Everything that’s happening right now in Australia is terrifying... With so much loss already, increasingly dangerous weather conditions and a useless government there is a lingering feeling of sadness and anxiety in all of us now and for the days to come. Inspired by the ways of others I have decided to use my music as a way to help. Against The Flames consists of 4 unreleased tracks with 100% of the profits going towards the ‘Fire Relief Fund for the First Nations Communities’. Stay safe and to those who can please continue to donate to those who need it.
'Fire Relief Fund for the First Nations Communities' **
"The aim of this fundraiser is to offer a culturally sensitive, specific direct support to some of those communities with critical costs to cover expenses including the following
- temporary relocation costs (hotel expenses, fuel, renting, possible medical needs)
- other basic amenity and emergency relief costs to assist with this very difficult time such clothing, miscellaneous vital personal items.
- refurbishment of damaged property where applicable
- resettling expenses where applicable
- ongoing rental support where necessary
- replacement of vital items i.e damaged medical equipment, clothing, toiletries, other vital personal belongings."
I'd like to acknowledge the traditional owners of the land, the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation, as we pay respect to elders past and present.
**Payment Made on February 1, 2020** = $2,500 AUD
"Big shout out to all the supporters of the Against The Flames EP. Since it launched on Jan 3rd it raised $2,782.00 from 240 purchases. Completely blown away by this... Unfortunately even though Bandcamp said the processing fee was reduced to 10% it always remained at 15% sadly, hopefully can amend this at a later stage. With the fee the total money raised was $2364.7. With a share of the Lou Karsh Full Discography sales and the (small) amount LKR Records Bandcamp made on the week of 6th to 10th of Jan. I have bumped it up to a clean $2500."
****UPDATE**** February 12, 2020. ****UPDATE**** *Go Fund Me Closed*
Thank you all for the incredible support to this campaign. We are now in the motions of distributing funds to communities. Further to this ,I wish to announce that as the last target has been reached and now exceeded, this leg of this campaign will be coming to a close.
The intention of this campaign was to put to use my platform, albeit not an enormous one, to initiate momentum . With platform as a First Nations person comes responsibility, and we drastically needed momentum towards support for our affected communities of First Nations peoples at a time when First Nations peoples where being forgotten in the overall picture of the devastation of the fires in this land. It was harrowing to witness yet again First Nations peoples being forgotten and something had to be done.
The support from various peoples and groups for this campaign has been amazing and has achieved the consideration of First Nations peoples in a powerful way, albeit we acknowledge the support must continue and must increase.
I would like to acknowledge all that have supported. As a musician I would like to acknowledge peers in the music industry that have made a particularly sizeable contribution , and I would really like to acknowledge that. And to everyone else, the response has been amazing. Each individuals support has been deeply appreciated .
As we move forward to the work of directing support to communities as stated, there is enormous work to be done, and alot more support will be needed moving forward. Sadly this is just the start of the support required. Subsequently , we will provide update on contacts you can direct funds to moving forward as communities take the initiative to rebuild. Please inbox if you have any questions . I will be available to answer them ongoing as inquiry's to support continue to come in .
